Jackie Robinson, the first black player in Major League Baseball, had an older brother named Mack. Mack was a pretty good athlete too. He was so good that he made the 1936 U.S. Olympic team. Here is what author Arnold Rampersad says about that:
“That summer, in Berlin, as the entire Robinson household heard the crackling radio broadcast of the race from Europe, Mack placed second to Jesse Owens in the 200-meter dash.” pg. 31 in Jackie Robinson: A Biography.
I am often amazed at the connections in life. The Larger Than Life story of Jesse Owens is connected to The Larger Than Life story of Jackie Robinson. That is awesome! Just awesome!
